The Sol y Luna Foundation dates back to 1998 and is led by Petit Miribel, who moved to Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of Peru in the 1990s. The foundation comprises the Sol y Luna School, Paqari, which supports children with special needs, the Sol y Luna Home for orphans, and Roots & Wings, which provides further education.
Avila Reizen has offered Sol y Luna accommodations on Peru trips for many years, which the Sol y Luna Foundation fully funds. Unfortunately, tourism to Peru declined significantly in 2023, making it very challenging for Sol y Luna to maintain operations. Therefore, the Avila Foundation has adopted Sarai from the Sol y Luna Foundation to support her through 2024.

The Haarlem neighborhood initiative "Food for Food" organized three "Food for Food" events during the coronavirus pandemic.
Shopping, cooking together, and personally delivering to neighbors resulted in a delicious roti meal. All proceeds from the meals were donated to the Avila Foundation to support the Casa Blanca project.
The first event was held during Easter 2020 and raised €1,030.
The second event was held during Christmas 2020 and raised €500.
The third event was held during Easter 2021 and raised €1,347.
What a fantastic initiative! We are deeply grateful to all the neighbors who contributed!
Traveling allows you to discover the world, its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With the Avila Foundation, we aim to create a better world by improving the living conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged children and local communities in developing countries. We also contribute to projects that focus on nature conservation and improving the living conditions of (protected) animal species, thereby creating a better balance between people and nature. The Avila Foundation focuses on small-scale projects related to people, the environment, and animal welfare (People, Planet & Wildlife).
