is the first project we began in Venezuela. Amid the challenging economic situation that Venezuelan households have endured over the past decade, children have been the most affected. In the area of Sucre, many families struggle to afford food, a basic and urgent need, especially during a child’s development. In these conditions, we knew we had to bring an answer.
With the help of our supporters, we purchased a space and began the restoration process of the house to create Casa Blanca, a place where meals could be prepared and distributed, and children from the area could come on a daily basis to enjoy a warm, nutritious meal.
Currently, Casa Blanca provides meals for 100 children between 3 and 12 years old. Beyond meals, Casa Blanca offers a place where they can play, learn, and dream.
Staff from the Funda Flanma Foundation are well-versed in the living conditions of local families living in extreme poverty and visit these homes to assess their conditions. When a place becomes available at Casa Blanca, children living in the highest level of poverty are assigned a spot. They ensure that all siblings from the same family, aged 3 to 13, can be accommodated.
We recently purchased a second home, which, after renovation, will provide a safe haven for vulnerable teenage children aged 13 to 18 years old. Some of them have already benefited from Casa Blanca as children, while for others, the project has enriched their lives. At this new teen location, we will support them in education, sports, and prepare them for an independent future.
Traveling allows you to discover the world, its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With the Avila Foundation, we aim to create a better world by improving the living conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged children and local communities in developing countries. We also contribute to projects that focus on nature conservation and improving the living conditions of (protected) animal species, thereby creating a better balance between people and nature. The Avila Foundation focuses on small-scale projects related to people, the environment, and animal welfare (People, Planet & Wildlife).
