has launched a new project in Venezuela, "Casa Grande."
Casa Grande is a center we built based on our work with Casa Blanca (our project that hosts 100 children aged 3 to 11 and provides them access to a warm and nutritious meal every day, as well as a space to play and learn). Casa Grande is driven by the same goal, but intended for older children, so we can support them in their development as they transition into their teenage years.
Being a teenager in the Netherlands already has its challenges, but in Venezuela, unfortunately, many more difficult situations arise. The country is facing a socio-economic emergency, leaving many teenagers without many opportunities for a better future.
At the end of July 2024, 50 teens from Casa Grande arrived at the new house to meet the team and express their wishes about what they would like to have and do in the house. Casa Grande aims to support teenagers in developing various skills, such as learning English, and training them for professions like baking or becoming an electrician.
The house is currently almost finished and is scheduled to be inaugurated in October 2025. After months of hard work, and thanks to the people who support us, we were able to install a large kitchen, restrooms for the children, new flooring, a roof, and air conditioning—a very essential need in a place where temperatures regularly reach 40 degrees.
This project has the potential to transform the lives of dozens of teenagers and their families, turning a simple house into a beacon of hope for them. By providing them with assured access to a meal and a safe environment, they can think beyond their most pressing needs and start to dream about a better future. Your support can help turn these dreams into reality.
Traveling allows you to discover the world, its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With the Avila Foundation, we aim to create a better world by improving the living conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged children and local communities in developing countries. We also contribute to projects that focus on nature conservation and improving the living conditions of (protected) animal species, thereby creating a better balance between people and nature. The Avila Foundation focuses on small-scale projects related to people, the environment, and animal welfare (People, Planet & Wildlife).
