Getting to know the Funda Flanma Foundation
Through our travel agency, Avila Reizen, we have been donating to the Funda Flanma Foundation in Venezuela since its founding in 2010. Funda Flanma Foundation has been a development and aid organization since 2006, formed by a group of Venezuelan professional women and housewives who were concerned about the extreme poverty in which many other women, teenage mothers, and children in Venezuela live.
Funda Flanma therefore launched a “Moviamasdecasa” aid program, which trains women in developing socially productive micro-projects and family economies. The goal of this program is to improve the women’s financial resources and the skills of their families and communities through microcredit. Thanks to this program, approximately 3,000 housewives in various provinces of Venezuela have received training.
Humanitarian crisis in Venezuela
The initiative was designed as a sustainable program to support, guide, train, and provide ongoing technical and professional development for women, teenage mothers, and housewives who want to improve their quality of life. Unfortunately, in 2018, Venezuela entered a humanitarian emergency, resulting in increasingly limited access to basic necessities such as food, water, and other essentials, such as toilet paper, for the local population.
As a result, the daily lives of the Venezuelan population became entirely focused on survival. Funda Flanma therefore established a food program to provide food to children living in communities experiencing extreme poverty.
This humanitarian crisis has prompted the Avila Foundation, in partnership with the AmmanyA Foundation, to purchase a house in Sucre, Venezuela, where the Funda Flanma Foundation can provide 80 children with a hot meal and help them develop toward a hopefully better future. Traveling allows you to discover the world, its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With the Avila Foundation, we aim to create a better world by improving the living conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged children and local communities in developing countries. We also contribute to projects that focus on nature conservation and improving the living conditions of (protected) animal species, thereby creating a better balance between people and nature. The Avila Foundation focuses on small-scale projects related to people, the environment, and animal welfare (People, Planet & Wildlife).
